Comparison

Put two tools side by side

Search for a product by name, or add tools to the tray as you browse. Once you have two, the comparison is built from the same fields for both: what each does, what each costs, and which platforms each runs on.

How to compare software

Feature grids are the least useful way to choose

The standard comparison is two columns of ticks. It looks authoritative and decides nothing, because a tick says a feature exists and not whether it is any good, and the tool with more ticks is usually just the tool with more marketing. Every product in a mature category has calendars, integrations and an API. None of that separates them.

What separates them is where each one is weak. A comparison worth reading names the thing each tool is bad at, because that is what you will be living with, and it is the half neither vendor will write. Every comparison here does that on both sides, on the same fields, so the two are described in the same terms rather than in the terms each markets itself in.

Price needs the same treatment. Two tools at the same headline number are a different purchase if one bills per seat, and the tier carrying single sign-on or an audit log is usually two above the one being advertised. A comparison that stops at the entry price has compared the cheapest version of each thing, which is not what either of you will end up running.

The last question is the one people skip: what does leaving cost? A tool you can export cleanly from is a reversible decision. One that holds your data in a shape nothing else reads is a permanent one, and it should be judged as such while choosing rather than two years later.

Questions about comparisons

How are the pairings chosen?
From pairs a reviewer confirmed people genuinely weigh against each other, not from every possible combination. Two tools nobody cross-shops make a page that answers no real question, and a directory full of them is worse than one without.
Is there a winner on every comparison?
There is a straight answer about who each tool suits, which is not the same as a single winner. Most pairings survive because they are genuinely better at different things, and declaring one of them the victor would be the least useful sentence on the page.
Can a vendor pay to win a comparison?
No. Placement and ordering are not for sale, and there is no sponsored slot on a comparison page at all. A vendor can claim their listing, reply publicly to reviews, and buy a labelled advertisement above the results on a catalogue or category page. None of that touches which product a comparison favours.
Can I compare more than two at once?
Yes, up to four. Add them from any product page or from the directory and the tray builds the comparison, or start from the full directory and pick as you browse.
