Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Grindr

  • Poor account appeal process with frequent wrongful bans and unresponsive customer service
  • Incomplete age verification globally, with inconsistent enforcement across regions
  • History of privacy violations, including 5.8 million euro fine from Norwegian Consumer Council for sharing user data with advertisers
  • Rising subscription costs with aggressive monetization strategy

Mighty Networks

  • A transaction fee is charged on paid memberships on top of the subscription, at 2% on Launch and 1% on Scale
  • Reaching the lowest 0.5% fee requires Mighty Pro, which is custom priced and gated behind a demo
  • Host and moderator seats are capped by plan, at 3 hosts on Launch at $79 a month and 5 on Scale at $179
  • The subscription is charged regardless of revenue, so a community that earns nothing still pays $79 a month
